From Babies to Boobs to Broccoli

- CATRIN OWEN

One-third of Kiwi kids are overweight or obese and one way to target this is through healthy food.

Persuading kids to eat their greens can be a struggle but a seminar hosted by some of New Zealand’s favourite food and parenting bloggers aims to turn the tables.

Takes A Village: Babies, Boobs and Broccoli is fronted by 5+ A Day ambassadors and sisters Julia and Libby Matthews, Anna Reeve, and Rocky and Ruby’s Rebecca Shannon.

5+ A Day general manager Paula Dudley says these seminars will provide an excellent forum for parents and a platform to encourage healthy eating, especially fresh fruit and vegetables for the family as a whole.

‘‘Healthy habits start early and by introducing more fruit and vegetables into children’s diets, will encourage them to make healthy food choices as they grow older,’’ she says.

The seminars will consist of informative and interactive presentations followed by question time.

They aim to arm parents with ideas on how to prepare healthy, budget-conscious meals for families and healthy eating tips for busy parents. The ladies will be in Auckland on August 31 at the Quality Hotel, Parnell from 6.30pm. Visit iticket.co.nz to book.
