District Village ceremonies

-

ANZAC day in Halcombe is a real community event. The town has had around 20 people come together over a 10 week period leading up to ANZAC day to learn how to make just over 300 unique and individual ceramic poppies which will symbolise Flanders Fields under their flag pole on the 25th.

This year all servicemen that are recognised as their fallen will also have a personalised named poppy by their white cross. Just like Flanders Fields every poppy is unique, special and lovingly created with the fallen in mind.

During the service at the Kimbolton Domain, War Memorial gates will be rededicating the golden elm trees that line the road into the domain, to the soldiers that died in World War II. These trees, one per soldier, were planted after the war as a living memorial to the soldiers.
