I could not be happier to see the new Community Newspaper of the Year title on the front page of our paper.

The Feilding-Rangitikei Herald was judged New Zealand’s best community newspaper at the Canon Media Awards 2017 on Friday night in Auckland.

It was a delightful surprise to hear our name called and I am ecstatic to be given this recognition for the work we do. I am incredibly proud of our team.

The Feilding and Rangitikei regions are a large area to cover and we do our best to ensure we’re servicing every part of these communities.

The Manawatu Standard newsroom also had a win with reporter Miri Schroeter being awarded Student Journalist of the Year and chief news director Matthew Dallas awarded for Best Headline.

I want to thank you all for the support you give us each week in talking to us, sharing your stories and telling us what issues you care about in our community.
