MARTON NINE HOLE GOLF

A great field turned out for our Par round 23rd May. Cool start but no wind, and the course looking great with greens playing extremely well. Results are: 1st Division: 1st Brian Willis up 4, 2nd Peter Whale square. 2nd Division: 1st Barb Crawford, 2nd Dave McDougall, 3rd Roy Powell, 4th Richard Pierce all square. 3rd Division: 1st Sam Atkinson square, 2nd Marion MacPhee 1 down, 3rd Marg Lampp 2 down. Our Lucky Card winner was Tim Brandon and Raffle winner was Sam Atkinson. Next week is a Medal round with 18 holers. Starters are: Brian & Lynn Shaw. Cards: Neil & Roy Powell. Kitchen is Jill Bryant and Committee. Club Members to please bring a plate. Last day for entries in the Jean Duncan Mugs is Tuesday 30th with the draw being done on 6th June.

ST BRIGID’S BOWLING

The first of the Club Championsh­ips was played recently. The Des Hurdle Memorial Cup for 2x4x2 was played and after a great final Margaret Bowater and Neville Abbott beat Barrie Haines and Doreen Robertson 4-3. The annual ANZAC Tournament attracted 26 teams of triples last week. The winners were Kelvin Corpus Cossie Club Palmerston North and runners-up were Karen Cummings team from Wanganui. Finals of the Club’s Singles championsh­ip was completed last week. 8 qualifiers from 19 entries. Congratula­tions to Brent Gowan who beat Steve Morton and Blair Gowan who came 3 rd beating Charmaine Abbott.
