Feilding choir singing for love

- SAM KILMISTER

A Feilding choir sing simply because they love to and they’re hoping to pass the passion on.

The Feilding Tenors and Divas are gearing up for their next concert Invitation to Dance and Love on June 18 at St John’s Church.

The group holds two concerts a year and are becoming wellknown in Feilding. Director Jeanne Purdy believes it’s got something to do with their motto - seriously singing for fun.

Purdy said audiences would enjoy a variety of waltz songs this year, such as I’m in love with Vienna, Tales from Vienna Woods, Blue Danube and Waltz of my heart and others.

The upbeat and positive show sets out to inspire others and pass on the passion.

‘‘Each concert takes on its own personality and one of the biggest challenges is to not only please our audience but to enjoy what we are doing as well,’’ Purdy said.

‘‘My philosophy towards music has always been to seriously sing for fun and it is quite evident from the singers that they enjoy this approach.’’

If anyone is qualified to talk all things music it’s definitely Purdy. The long time performer operates a private singing studio in Palmerston North in her spare time.

She believed everyone should sing and wished there were more hours in the day to introduce it as a past time to more people.

‘‘Each concert takes on its own personality. ’’ Jeanne Purdy
