Personal touch pays off

-

Helping people to move well to stay well, is all in a day’s work for Diana Leicester and her team at Weld Street Physio, winners of the 2017 Best Personal Business of the Year.

In her practice, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention are all equally as important.

‘‘We’re helping people by treating injuries. But their journey isn’t complete with just getting over the injury.’’

A big part of what they are looking to do during rehabilitation, is to move into prevention so that hopefully you’re not going to injure yourself again in the same way.

‘‘It’s about embracing the things we are asking you to do.’’

These positive lifestyle changes may be as simple as changing the way you sit, the way you get out of a chair, the way you pick up your handbag or the way you’re working on your computer.

‘‘There are many simple lifestyle enhancements that you can make that will make a real difference.’’

You can go directly to Weld Street Physiotherapy or be referred by a GP. They specialise in manual and manipulative therapy, acupuncture, spinal and sports injuries, post-operative rehabilitation and hand therapy. They also offer assessment and management of muscle imbalances and core stability issues.

Leicester returned to home town Feilding in 1993. After graduating from Otago University she worked in Dunedin, Australia, UK and Auckland. She has completed Post Graduate Diplomas in Manipulative Therapy and Rehabilitation, NZ Association of Hand Therapists training, Clinical Pilates Modules and is a registered physiotherapy acupuncturist.

Leicester is joined by physiotherapists Laura Ng, Kirsty Robinson and Kirsty Prattley. Janine Print and Vanessa Stroud are on front desk, and Diana believes they would have interacted with the judges, and were most likely responsible for their win, ‘‘and that’s wonderful because they’re a massive part of our business.’’
