Ladies contest final

-

An excellent turnout competed in a stableford round whilst the ladies contested the final of the club championships.

The course was a little dryer although the 4th fairway was soft in the lower lying areas as were a few other isolated areas.

However, with the tees and aprons to the greens all mowed and the greens superbly presented there was little excuse.

In addition, the chip and run became a preferred option around the greens as well as most players enjoying their winter handicap, a good number played close to or better than handicap.

Denise Millner was too strong for Lesley Hardwidge in the silver division.

Diane Mickleson held on over Ngaire Bond in the bronze 1, whilst Marian Cleaver won the last hole to defeat Fran Robertson in the bronze 2.

Hamish Rose made a bold showing in his first outing for several years scoring 45 points which included 9 pars in a nothing but an impressive display.

On 40 points were Peter Valentine and Merv Tapp.

Valentines round included back to back birdies on 12 and 13 flying though the back nine in 39.

Merv Tapp was superb in the first 6 holes and in the last 3 holes but came unstuck on the longer holes in the middle section.

Duane Dick registered 38 coming home in 36. On 37 was Denis Robertson, 36 Danny Mickleson, 35 Kerry Wells, Briany Bristol and Alan Thomas, 34 Gary Thomas and Richard Millner.

2’s – Gary Thomas (14), Danny Mickleson (8), Peter Valentine (12), Duane Dick (17).

There are a number of matches requiring urgent attention.

White Cup – Matt Thomas and John Fenemor vs Nick McGuinn and John Gilbert

Joblin – John Fenemor vs James Fannin
