The Zonta Club of South Auckland is calling for nominees for the annual Zonta Awards.

Two awards are up for grabs in 2016.

The Study Award is for women aged 25 to 45 who are pursuing their first post-secondary school professional or vocational qualification. The winner will be awarded a minimum of $5000 towards their studies.

The Young Women in Public Affairs award is for preuniversity students aged 16 to 19 (usually in Year 13) who have shown leadership skills and a commitment to help others. The winner will be awarded up to $1500. Shortlisted applicants must be available for an interview in the evening on September 8, and the winner’s application will be put forward for consideration for the Zonta National YWPA Award.

The Zonta Club is dedicated to empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. The two awards are offered in partnership with the Chenery Trust and have been in place since 1983 and 1997, respectively.

The closing date for all applications is Friday, August 5. Applicants for both awards must live in the area bounded by the Tamaki Estuary in the north an Pokeno in the south, excluding East Manukau.
