In­vi­ta­tion: dig deep for Tuakau


The peo­ple of Tuakau and sur­rounds are be­ing asked to di­ary Septem­ber 18 for a day of get­ting busy clean­ing up the town and sur­rounds as part of Keep New Zealand Beau­ti­ful’s an­nual Clean Up Week, Septem­ber 12-19.

‘‘This year is set to be another suc­cess­ful clean-up and plant­ing day in Tuakau with many com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions on board to get in­volved in this ‘‘place­mak­ing’’ event in Tuakau,’’ or­gan­iser Jac­qui Church said. ‘‘We are all hop­ing for bet­ter weather this year but what­ever the day throws at us our hardy vol­un­teers and the Tuakau Sea Scouts will clean and plant, even in the pour­ing rain.’’

The clean up and plant­ing day starts with reg­is­tra­tion at the Tuakau Ho­tel car park from 8.30am-9.30am, with clean­ing up and plant­ing till 1pm at Les Batkin Re­serve. Morn­ing tea with be pro­vided for vol­un­teers cour­tesy of the Tuakau Lions at the Tuakau Ho­tel, with lunch - a sausage siz­zle by the Tuakau Ro­tary Club - at Kowhai Re­serve.

The plant­ing in­cludes fruit trees and na­tives, which will progress the Tuakau Food Trail.
