Playcentre celebrates in style

-

There’s a castle in Bombay.

Bombay Playcentre is celebrating 50 years with a new look and a family fun day for all past and present members.

‘‘For our 50-year celebration we’re inviting all past and present Bombay Playcentre families along to a fun afternoon of celebrations,’’ said Bombay Playcentre president Julia Willing.

The free event will run from 1pm till 4pm on Saturday, October 29 and will include games, a sausage sizzle, afternoon tea and a cake-cutting ceremony.

The centre has also recently undergone a facelift to commemorate the 50-year celebrations and was transformed into a castle.

Willing said one of the centre members, Lara Mills, designed the castle and with the help of funding from Counties Playcentre Association and the skills of local builder Nigel Long.

‘‘We are hoping this will really make our centre standout and encourage more families to come in and check out what we are all about,’’ Willing said.

‘‘As well as providing a quality education for our children, the centre is a welcoming place where parents and caregivers can find friendship and support while getting to have some fun with their children,’’ she said.

There are currently 30 families enrolled at the centre.
