Good in the hood kicks off

- STAFF REPORTER

‘‘The teams at Z stations in Franklin are excited to be getting behind more groups to help them address the needs of our community. We can't wait to read through the applications and see all the good happening in the hood.’’

Groups doing good for people or the environment in Franklin can apply now to be part of Z Energy’s 2017 Good in the Hood at one of the local Z stations.

Groups selected will all get a portion of the $4,000 that each local Z station will be giving away during Good in the Hood voting month in May.

Since 2012 more than $4 million has gone to community groups and projects thanks to this initiative.

The Z stations in Franklin are looking for groups that are helping address a need in the local neighbourhood.

Community Champion Melanie Kennerley said she was looking forward to hosting the initiative once again.

‘‘Franklin is an awesome neighbourhood to operate in and as a Kiwi company we want to give back locally by helping groups caring for people or the environment.

‘‘We can’t wait to read through the applications and see all the good happening in the hood.’’

To ensure the needs of local people and the environment are addressed, Franklin Z stations will choose which groups they will get behind.

‘‘Good in the Hood is the ultimate in keeping it local. Instead of the folk at head office picking who we support, the teams on the ground make the call, since we’re the ones who best know the needs of our neighbourhood,’’ Kennerley said.

Customers will determine what percentage of the funding goes to each group by voting with an orange token every time they shop at Z in May.

Groups can enter online at z.co.nz/goodinthehood and are invited to pop in and introduce themselves to staff at the local station. Applications close on February 28.
