Swimmers impress at nationals
Pukekohe Swimming Club members shone at the NZ National Age Group championships in Wellington last week.
Standouts were Robson Wallace (gold 400m free, gold 1500m free, bronze 400IM and bronze 200m back); Zac Dell (gold 50m free, 50m, 100m and 200m back, silver 50m breast, 200IM); Kiana Swain (gold 100m and 200m fly, silver 800m free and 200m back, bronze in 50m fly; Tavarnya Howe (gold 100m and 200m back, silver in 50m back, bronze in 200IM); Rebecca Cheyne (gold in Harlequins relay, silver 100m back and 400m free, bronze 200m back, 800m free); Olivia Clare (silver 100m fly), Meg Grey (bronze 200m breast). swimmer Abbey Swain made three finals and top 10 placings for 100m and 200m back and 100m fly; Josh Nichol finaled in five events, gaining top 10 placings in the1500m free, 50m, 100m, 200 breast, and 200IM; William Hughes, was 5th in 50m fly and 8th in 100m free; Kevin Qiao was eighth in the 50m, 100m breast; McKenzie Brears was eight in the 200m breast; Tanisha Robertson was 11th in the 400m free; Thomas Murray seventh in the 50m back; and Bella Perham and Kyarla Cooney had a 10 and 16 place jump in rankings for 50m free and 100m back.
