PPA returns after eight years

-

Pukekohe Performing Arts will stage its first play in eight years later this month.

The play, directed by Bob Lack and written by Joan Greening, is about relationships and how they can go wrong.

The play is a comedy featuring a cast of 10 actors and actresses, and will debut on May 26, and will continue until June 3.

Production manager Sharnie Carlyle said it would be a fantastic play, and encouraged locals to head to the Harrington Theatre to watch the comedy unfold.

‘‘I think most will enjoy this play as it purely for fun, ie there is no lesson to be learned or message to send. Each character is very individual and when put together in a room the results are very amusing.

‘‘This is the only theatre we have in Pukekohe and we want to ensure it is used to its full potential.

‘‘The actors on stage have grown into their characters and I can assure you that you will not be disappointed by their performance.

‘‘Even if you have never been to one of our shows before this a good one to start with. Grab a bunch of friends and come along to support your locals.’’

Carlyle said the bigger the audience, the better.

‘‘Above all else what an actor or actress desires the most is an audience.

‘‘Pukekohe Performing Arts is hoping to fill the seats completely whilst inspiring others to get involved.

‘‘This is the only theatre we have in Pukekohe and we want to ensure it is used to its full potential.’’

‘‘New talent is always welcome on and off the stage and we encourage new directors, choreographers, musicians and actors to give it a go.’’

Director Bob Lack said it was a pleasure to be back directing and performing with Pukekohe Performing Arts.

‘‘From 1994 to 2009 I performed and directed here regularly, but in recent years I’ve moved about more widely. It’s good to be back.

‘‘We’ve brought together a strong cast, with experienced actors from across the Franklin district and beyond.

‘‘I would like to thank PPA for the opportunity to direct another play here, and for the off-stage support which is so vital for any show.’’

Tickets for the show are $20 and can be purchased at iTicket.co.nz.
