and redecorated. We rebranded the website and created a new treatment menu.

‘‘We wanted to move towards that spa environment with a focus on holistic wellness and restorative treatments.’’

Barrett said she wanted Pure Indulgence to be a place for clients to just chill out, without the sales pressure.

‘‘We all live such busy lives and it’s nice to offer a place to just chill out where there’s no pressure to buy products or someone saying, have you noticed that wrinkle?’’

Barrett said buying her first business had been a ‘‘huge learning curve’’ as she learnt how to run it. She said she was grateful to her staff who all ‘‘had their own unique strengths’’.

At the awards dinner on July 29, Barrett said she was overwhelmed and surprised to take away the health and beauty honour.

‘‘It was very exciting. We worked with a graphic designer on the submission, which was a beautiful, hardcover coffee table book showing the business before and after.’’

Looking ahead to the future, Barrett said she was excited to see the business grow even further.

‘‘I want to see Pure Indulgence become niche as a day spa.’’

‘‘I want to say a massive thank you to the business association and our amazing, loyal clients who have been so supportive from day one.’’
