FROM THE EDITOR
The Franklin Arts Festival is back for 2017 - and we can’t wait to view all the fantastic exhibits that go up on show in the Pukekohe Town Hall on Saturday.
It’s a highlight for Franklin’s artists and art-lovers every year - and never disappoints.
Categories include painting, print and paperworks, textile art, ceramic and pottery, photography, glass, sculpture, woodcraft and youth.
Now in its 28th year, with more than $28,000 in prize money, it is regarded as one of Auckland’s most prestigious art events. The first festival, which was held in 1990, displayed 147 paintings by Franklin artists and numerous craft stalls.
The festival will officially open at 7pm on Friday with a prizegiving ceremony - and we’ll be there taking photos for you to enjoy in our Tuesday’s edition next week.
The Franklin Arts Festival is on in Pukekohe from September 2 till September 10. Make sure you head along - you won’t be disappointed. Julie Kaio News Director OFFICE: 09 237 0400.
