NATURE’S PLANTING TIME

-

Autumn is the very best time to plant trees and shrubs.

A tree or shrub planted into warm autumn soil has time to grow new roots before winter, so it will take off in spring, well ahead of spring planted shrubs. It’s also a great time to get that new hedge in the ground or mass plant some ground cover shrubs to block future weeds. After planting, water thoroughly and add a layer of mulch to conserve moisture, suppress weeds and enhance the condition of your soil. When mulching with bark or wood chips add fertiliser to compensate for the nutrients used by soil microbes involved in the breakdown process.
