Grow­ing up in Whangarei, Car­alee spent much of her child­hood in the Bay of Is­lands, but she now re­sides on the Gold Coast with her hus­band Cameron and three chil­dren, where she loves rid­ing her retro bi­cy­cle to meet friends for pic­nics, and at­tend­ing the lo­cal farm­ers’ mar­kets to find fresh pro­duce to cook with.

Hi­mali McInnes Hi­mali is a fam­ily doc­tor based in South Auck­land, who re­cently trav­elled to Mon­go­lia with her hus­band Ian, who works as the CEO of Tear­fund. Hi­mali penned the so­cial jus­tice fea­ture Lay­ing Down Roots

in Mon­go­lia about the trip on page 22. Hi­mali un­winds by pot­ter­ing about in her or­ganic gar­den and has re­cently ac­quired a bee­hive.

Kahu de Beer Kahu is Good’s lovely new gar­den­ing writer. She is based in Mount Maun­ganui and first found her pas­sion for the gar­den at a young age, fol­low­ing her grand­mother around in her glasshouse, plant­ing pineap­ple tops and check­ing on them daily. Her favourite plant is wild jas­mine; she cred­its it for hav­ing the best smell in the world.
