Nuclear power plant becomes solar site
In 1972 Austria’s first nuclear power plant opened in Zwentendorf but, due to a referendum, it was prevented from being put into operation. Now the site is producing solar energy thanks to the installation of Fronius’s photovoltaic system: 1000 photovoltaic panels fixed to the façade, roof and surrounding area of the old power plant, which makes it the safest nuclear power station in the world.
