Light a candle

As night falls each evening, I wander around the house lighting a series of candles. It’s a beautiful reminder to prepare my body for rest, and to watch as the evening slowly unfolds. Even my children have come to know that as soon as the candles are flickering gently in the dim light, it’s time to relax and prepare for bed. Not only do candles create a lovely ambience, dim lighting can stimulate melatonin in our bodies, which helps us to connect to our circadian rhythms. It might seem like a rather simple ritual, but it’s too simple not to try, don’t you think?
