Getting it sorted

-

Dolores Berdad, 47, has worked for Dole as a fruit packer for 19 years. The security of her job has enabled her to send her kids to school and buy her own house. When preparing the pineapples for the NZ market it is important that certain procedures are followed. “We know if the fruit is intended for NZ when; first, the crown is removed precisely (pineapple crowns are removed to comply with biosecurity regulations in NZ). There should be no insects found in the fruit,” says Berdad.
