Conscious clubbing

-

If you love dancing but not the gym and need a workout then Morning People could be for you. Every Wednesday morning at Whammy Bar, 183 K’Rd, Auckland, Morning People holds a 6.30am to 8am drug- and alcohol-free dance party to set you up for the day with a big grin. Morning People, which just turned two, is the brainchild of business partners and friends Vanessa Scott and Jamie Newman who are no strangers to alternative dance formats (they recently ran the Auckland chapter of No Lights No Lycra – an hour of dancing in the dark). Inspired by the success of morning events overseas they knew that with some tweaking, Morning People would work in New Zealand. When they are not throwing morning dance parties Newman, a DJ and producer, works for music licensing organisation APRA and Scott is a voiceover artist and mum of two. “We’ve grown a really loyal following of city workers, students, hipsters, parents and millennials who have all embraced conscious clubbing, and taking those good feelings with them into the day,” says Scott. They’re excited to be launching Morning People in Wellington in August, and have ambitions to spread to other cities. The $15 door charge includes free plunger coffee, Lokal kombucha, fresh fruit from Ooooby and Almighty juice.

The power of touch

In this fast-paced world it’s important to focus on our wellness and having a massage is an effective way to combat mental and muscular stress. That’s why we’re shouting out about Chuan Spa’s “The Power of Three” offering – a rejunvenating trio of treatments that includes a hydrating facial, full body massage and foot scrub for $297, from July 1 to September 30, 2018. We promise you will feel like you are floating by the end. Also complimentary with every booking is access to Chuan Spa’s heated outdoor pool, jacuzzi, saunas and herbal steam room so why not spend the day there, or even book a room.
