In brief
Track gets big tick
The Hamilton Roller Skating Club ran their first competition on their new International Speed Skating Track in July. President Kathy Moody said many of the skaters came from out of town and that all fields were fiercely contested. The Hamilton Club is now planning a series of competitions over the next few months, as part of the build up to the National Championships which will be held after Christmas. Anyone interested in Speed Skating can get information on 8474527. Waiprint returns Waiprint, which has been running for over 20 years, will be at ArtsPost from Friday, August 5 through to Monday, September 5. There will be an opening event at 5.30pm on August 5; the opening will be shared with the National Youth Art Award. Twenty-six WSA printmakers will exhibit over 40 works in techniques including etching, aquatint, drypoint, woodcut, linocut, lithography and monotype. Waiprint always includes a guest artist and this year it’s featuring two printmakers from Te Kowhai Print Trust in Whangarei. Martinus Sarangapany and Hamish OakleyBrowne will show their towering woodcuts, which they printed using a steam roller.
