The Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA), awarded by Cambridge and offered through the University of Waikato, offers a fiveweek intensive training that gives students essential skills for effective teaching practice.

Input combines English Language Analysis, Teaching Theory and Practical Classroom Techniques. Graduates will be ready to walk into language classrooms anywhere in the world and teach with confidence, say trainers Jill and Charlie Hadfield.

‘‘CELTA is challenging, effective and accepted worldwide.’’

The next course runs November 14 to December 16, Monday to Friday, at Waikato Pathways College, University of Waikato. Cost: $3300.

The Hadfields have trained teachers for several decades in developing and developed countries. Jill is a well-known materials writer.

Candidates’ comments from January 2016 CELTA intake: ‘‘You have joined an exclusive club. Your learning will be intense. You will be tired, hard working, and supported by your peers. CELTA is a great course! Work hard, be organised, keep learning.’’
