YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE

-

There’s been quite a lot of feedback online via our Neighbourly site about mayoral contenders for the Hamilton City Council. People are calling out particular issues they want sorted by the incoming mayor, who will be elected to office in October. Among the gripes people are listing, animal control and water meters appear as two of the favourite issues ratepayers are highlighting for the next city leader to fix. On the water issue, people still seem unsure about what it will really mean for them if the Hamilton City Council, Waipa and Waikato district councils form a water company together. There’s particular angst around the installation of water meters, which has already been given the tick in Waipa.

Other readers are calling for the city to become more sustainable, when it comes to recycling and providing cycling opportunities. There are all good topics to consider and research before casting your vote at the council elections.
