A slice of ‘soul food’

- EVENT

Reggae band Hemingway is in Hamilton for an action-packed gig at Nivara Lounge.

Assuring to completely satisfy their listeners, Hemingway is set to dish out a new sound served by a new band member and new elements.

Soulfood is the latest single from the four-piece which has recently incorporated a more eclecticelectronic styling to their menu.

Hemingway has reworked its energetic psych-reggae, blending in more beats to its already tasty grooves.

Soulfoodwas first dished up earlier this year and recorded with friend, musician and producer Lyall Moloney.

Mixing in drum samples and electronic beats for the first time, Brad Hemingway describes the track to include ‘‘a heavy funk line infused with a hip hop vibe’’.

Their range of influences include Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Bob Marley, Gorillaz, Glass Animals and Skrillex.

‘‘We started recording at 2pm on a weeknight and didn’t finish until 1am,’’ Hemingway said.

The New Zealand tour will see the Aussie lads supported by local acts such as Knights of the Dub Table, Night Gaunts, Te Henga Collective and more.

Hemingway will perform at Nivara Lounge, 266 Victoria St, Hamilton, Thursday, November 3 with Te Henga Collective. Doors open 8pm, tickets: $10.
