Posh and pearls at Chateau
A grand and glamorous evening held at Chateau Gallagher in Hamilton will raise funds for Music Moves Me Trust and Dementia Waikato.
Altrusa International of Hamilton will present Music and Memories at the iconic Fleur de Lys this month.
The evening will feature two hours of elegant entertainment, with jazz bands and opera singers, and champagne on arrival.
The theme is posh and pearls, and guests can expect to feel just as glamorous as their surroundings.
Altrusa is an international non-profit organisation aimed at making local communities better through leadership, partnership, and service.
Altrusa Hamilton projects chairperson Lorraine Eves and convenor Lyn MacDonald have been organising the event alongside Lady Judi Gallagher and said it will be an elegant affair.
Held inside the sprawling Chateau Gallagher overlooking Hamilton Lake, guests will start in the Lion Court before making their way to Le Grande Salon.
Lady Gallagher is the sole architect of the house and opened her doors to Altrusa a couple of years ago when they hosted a fashion parade in the Chateau.
Lady Gallagher became the patron for Music Moves Me Trust in 2015 and the trust’s fundraising and grants coordinator Kath Woodley said they were thrilled.
She said Lady Gallagher was really dedicated and had offered to host the event alongside Altrusa.
It is the first time Music Moves Me Trust and Altrusa Hamilton have put their heads together to host an event.
Music Moves Me Trust exists to offer high-quality, interactive music and music therapy to people living with dementia.
Woodley said she was most looking forward to getting dressed up, saying there wasn’t enough chances to dress up in our lives.
Two hundred guests are invited to the evening, with tickets selling fast. There will be canapes and an art sale, and a raffle to a Waihi weekend holiday.
Music and Memories, 4pm-6pm, Sunday, February 19. All costs are sponsored and all proceeds go to Music Moves Me Trust and Dementia Waikato. Tickets: $55 pp, available from Lorraine 07 838 0218 or Lyn 07 839 0355 (evenings).
