Four delicious, simple smoothies

Smoothies are a great way to start the day as well as up your fruit and vege intake. They’ll also give you a good boost of vitamins and minerals in something that’s easy to drink.

BANANA, DATE AND NUT SMOOTHIE

2 bananas (pre-frozen) 6-8 medjool dates, stones removed and roughly chopped

cup almonds, roughly chopped A good pinch ground cinnamon 2 cups milk (cow’s, almond, or soy) Tip: if you don’t have frozen bananas, use fresh bananas and a small handful of ice cubes.

Place all ingredient­s in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.

To serve, pour into glasses.

BLUEBERRY AND KIWI SMOOTHIE

cup blueberrie­s 1 kiwifruit, peeled 1 cup coconut water 2-3 mint leaves (optional)

cup ice cubes, plus extra to serve Place all ingredient­s in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.

To serve, pour into glasses and top with extra ice cubes.

STRAWBERRY AND BANANA SMOOTHIE

1 banana (pre-frozen) 5 medium-sized strawberri­es

teaspoon vanilla essence or extract cup natural yoghurt cup milk (cow’s, almond, or soy)
