I’m Nicola Brennan-Tupara, chief news director of the Waikato Communities.

I’m filling in for Lawrence while he’s taking a much deserved break.

It’s been a pleasure putting together the Hamilton Press this week.

As I write this it’s just been announced that Hamilton has won the rights to host the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series after years of dwindling crowd numbers finally brought to an end Wellington’s 18-year tenure of the event.

What great news this is. We all know Hamilton is a great host.

I went to all the Hamiltonbased matches when New Zealand played host for the Rugby World Cup back in 2011.

It was great to be part of such a big international event and the city coped brilliantly.

We have a world class rugby stadium and I’ll definitely be one of the thousands attending next year.
