Drama as theatre site announced

Hamilton doesn’t need a new theatre. I thought the whole rebuild idea had been canned? Better to use the money to support Hamilton’s smaller theatres especially since this site is likely even smaller than they are.

I don’t think parking is the issue. I think the quality of the new theatre is what is paramount. Does the proposed site really have enough room to build a theatre than can be used by the groups that will use it? Will it attract the big shows that currently just bypass Hamilton like we don’t exist? I get sick of everything being in Auckland because that adds a real cost and time to going to see anything.

The reason I don’t like going into the city is the parking. So where are the cars going to park on a Friday and Saturday night when the city is already full. I’m not keen to walk any distance on my own late at night after a show to get to my car. Hopefully the venue includes car parking. Hopefully the plan is forward thinking and takes into account a growing city.

Looks like a great location, I think it might help Hamilton being on Victoria Street.

Sounds like a great idea, it will be a real asset to the city and will be close to the museum and cafes and restaurants.

AMANDA SCHAAKE

Bloody brilliant idea! Get a bit of culture into the south end. Love it! Bars, restaurants and theatre. Fabulous!
