An­i­mals join their own­ers on Pink Walk

All walks of life, hu­mans and an­i­mals, will sup­port breast can­cer aware­ness month in Hamil­ton.

The Waikato Breast Can­cer Re­search Trust will hold a pink walk and fun run on Oc­to­ber 19 at the Hamil­ton Yacht Club

Co-or­di­na­tor Fiona John­son said any­one was wel­come.

‘‘We have had the oc­ca­sional horse in the past,’’ John­son said.

‘‘Dogs are very pop­u­lar and about three years ago, some­one had pushed in a push chair, one or two rab­bits who were dressed up in pink as well.’’

Pets and pet own­ers were en­cour­aged to dress up in pink, with prizes avail­able for best dressed male, fe­male and dog.

The walk starts at 5.45pm with Les Mills staff pro­vid­ing a warm up for par­tic­i­pants. The run starts at 6.15pm.

Be pre­pared for any weather on the day.

There was a $20 en­try fee for peo­ple over 17, $5 for peo­ple aged be­tween 5-17. Free for un­der 5s.

Reg­is­tra­tion avail­able at pinkwalk.co.nz, or late com­ers can join on the day from 4.30pm and on­wards.

Fiona John­son has been work­ing hard to raise aware­ness of the com­ing Pink Walk in Hamil­ton.
