DATE AN ALL BLACK

Friends of single All Black Damian McKenzie want to set him up with a girl.

His Chiefs team mates, and wanna-be cupids, Brad Weber and Michael Allardice have a new pod cast Code Trippin, fashioned on similar ones by basketballers in the United States, which gives fans a closer encounter with the team than through traditional media. Chiefs and All Black full back McKenzie was the first interviewee. During their chat the duo decided to take it upon themselves to throw it out to listeners the opportunity to have a romantic one on one with their buddy. The pitch for McKenzie? He is blonde, blueeyed, and has a distinct Southland drawl.

Oh, and the lads think that his wheels help make him an absolute catch.

‘‘You own a house, drive a mustang, you must be every New Zealand girl’s dream guy,’’ Weber says to McKenzie. Allardice backs it up, commenting ‘‘you must be the quintessential Kiwi male.’’ Despite the 22-year-old telling his mates he was not looking for an everlasting love at the moment, as his focus was on his career, the pair pressed him for a chance to act as a match-makers for him.
