March 18 Women's golf—18 holes On Saturday March 13 It could not have been a more beautiful day for members to get back on the course after the week's heavy verti-draining, and our greenkeepers are to be congratulated on a great job, with the greens just about back to normal. Veterans’ golf

The first Mclean Trophy Interclub match between Waihi and Omokoroa was played at Omokoroa on Wednesday March 3, and Waihi women players were in such short supply that Waihi could not field the full team that was anticipated. Naturally, what is one man's meat is another's poison and Omokoroa romped in with a massive lead, and can only be congratulated for their good performance. The next contest will be at Waihi later in the year. Thirty-six people turned up to play the second Nett Medal round on Monday March 15, and those who chose to stay away because of the weather forecast were sensible. Gloomy overcast soon turned to very heavy showers, and water sat on the surface of the fairways that had had been parched for so long, and players' wet weather gear proved inadequate in the downpours. Some were wise and went home, but it was surprising how many stayed on to finish their rounds and not many were keen to linger after golf in wet clothing. Nett results: Michelle Libby 72; Mark Mora, Kaylene Croker 74; John Purkis, Rodger Bagshaw, John Saunders, Peter Robertson 76; Allen Smith, Diane Lewis 77 ; Bruce Rutter, Helen Baynes 78; Graham Jenkins 79; Neville Jamieson (Onewhero) 80. Twos: Neville Jamieson x 2, Kerry Lewis, Bruce Rutter, Allen Smith, Rae Wright.
