Cute holiday bach furnished and ready for fun in the sun

- By Jo Ferris

When space is at a premium, smart thinking will always find ways to maximise what’s at hand. This cute little number does exactly that by taking the garage and turning it into a dedicated lounge. The result gives more room in the family hub, while also providing a cosy retreat. Stepping down into its own space, the lounge is cleverly included in the cottage – going another step further with ranchsliders opening out to an enclosed barbecue courtyard. Fully fenced and trendy - in tune with casual beach life and lit for evenings - it’s a charming, private area. Perfect for this wee gem and safe for kids and pets as well.

This feature is also deceptive in some ways. From the front of the home, the roller door disguises the fact the lounge – or courtyard for that matter - even exist. Smart thinking yet again maximises this garage’s original space; keeping the roller door in place and walling off the front section to store bikes and boards. A separate, garden shed around the back offers more storage. At around 314 square metres, the section still has room at the front for cars and the boat. With that in mind, this place even has a fishing bench tucked out of site, for cleaning up the latest catch.

Making a dedicated lounge isn’t the only renovation this home received. The owners installed a new kitchen and bathroom – making sure to update the laundry alcove as well. Every corner is maximised to create a warm and cosy environment – right to the way a bar-stool counter provides a café corner in front of a long window. It looks great and keeps movement free within the dining and family area. This is a sunny home – natural light streaming inside from the front deck. Partly sheltered overhead, the deck spills living outside to offer the best of both worlds – brekky in the sun and shelter outside when it rains.

Gabled ceilings inside - lined with ply - enhance the sense of space in the family hub, while also maintaining the practical ambience that belongs to holiday life. Two heat pumps keep things cosy as well – warm in winter and cool in summer. There are two bedrooms here – one for parents and one easily fitting a double bed and couple of bunks for kids and friends. The icing on the cake is the knowledge this home is offered fully furnished. It’s an extensive chattels list – too long to mention everything here. Just know that the list is available on request.

The house is also ready to move into now – still time to enjoy the last of the autumn sun and contemplate thoughts of owning a winter escape at the beach. Auction looms.
