● Thumbs up to the Lions for assisting with the Blossom Parade. Thumbs down to the older teenage girl who refused to stand back when politely asked 3 times.

● Just a wee summary driving around the Bay of late: why are our roads getting worse and when roadworks are done they last a month at most? Either poor management or workmanship and a total waste of taxpayers’ money. There has to be a change, or we will be back to a horse as the roads will be impassable. ARG

● Re air traffic controllers and keeping one’s mind on the job in Napier: none of us is perfect in our jobs — but emotional and inattention issues have caused fatal crashes in the world. We all want safe airway assurance. It’s good disruption issues are investigted — a reminder to us all that we are paid to make the right choices.

● To the person swearing her head off at me by the Hastings Countdown on Saturday morning: I pulled out to turn right onto Nelson St because you had your left indicator on! You then continued on down the street with it still on. Pay attention to your own driving.

● Absolutely staggered to read of $3 million spent on 2 education summits — one in Auckland and one in Christchurch. Whatever was all this money spent on?

● Re ‘‘Gender stereotyping is wrong (Chester Borrows' column): I found him just as guilty of stereotyping, stating older woman are Jacinda Ardern's biggest detractors. Many I know admire Jacinda greatly and are in awe of her.

● Lawrence Yule: Government debt grew from $20 billion to $85 billion in the 9 years in power, happy to borrow all that cheap money that still has to be paid back. It was also the rebuild after those earthquakes that helped make the economy look so good on paper. Please tell the whole story.

● The Government's summits are out of control cost-wise: a criminal one costing $1.5 million and two education summits costing $2.1 million for four days. How does it run up these excessive costs? It seems to think the taxpayer is just a money tree. Oh, well, I suppose it can introduce another tax somewhere else to keep the bottomless pit full.

● Re Waipukurau Golf Club flooding: the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council has a lot to answer for. It has known about this problem for years. Get off your butts and do maintenance work on the river. Help the club protect its asset. CZ, Taradale
