Renowned fusion, gypsy jazz guitarists to perform

Accomplish­ed Australian world fusion guitarist Bart Stenhouse is about to hit the road for his third Australian tour for 2018, alongside renowned Sydney based gypsy jazz guitarist Nigel Date.

The two internatio­nal touring artists will be performing 20 shows in total across the country and will be at The Cabana in Napier on September 26.

Bart Stenhouse has been an active player on the jazz and world music scenes in South East Queensland, Northern NSW and abroad. His playing and compositio­ns take their root from his love of various world music styles including Spanish flamenco, jazz, North Indian classical, Western classical music, folk/roots and blues music. A multiinstr­umentalist, he performs live on a myriad of instrument­s including a variety of guitars, electric mandolin, and electric/double bass.

He is passionate about finding new avenues of musical expression and common ground between these different worlds of music and actively pursues them around the world with his performanc­es.

As well as this, Bart was a former lecturer of music at the Queensland Conservato­rium and currently works actively as a film score composer, live sound engineer and music producer

Nigel Date is a profession­al guitarist based in Sydney, Australia, with more than 30 years playing experience.

Nigel is well known for being an expert accompanis­t for work with singers, violinists, horn players and other guitarists.

Nigel is the guitarist for based bands including Hurricane Fred, The Straight Back Fellows, The Eye of Chaos, The Benny Goodman Project, Gadjo Guitars, The String Cartel and Repo Diablo as well as one half of guitar duo the world renowned and well travelled Date Brothers with Ireland based brother Ian Date.
