Outdoor pools opening with longer hours

New season starts next week

- Georgia May

With the region already pushing towards highs of 30C, summer has come early and with that comes a splash in the pool.

The Havelock North Village and Frimley pools will reopen at 10am on Monday after their Christmas shutdown.

In even better news, they’ll have extended hours in January when Clive War Memorial Pool undergoes maintenance.

Splash Planet will also open its gates on Monday to eager swimmers and will be open every day, except Christmas Day, until February 6. From then, it will open at weekends only.

The Village pool will also be open every day through the summer months, except for Christmas and Boxing Days.

Frimley pool will follow suit, but will otherwise be open from 10am to 6pm each day, but from 6am to 6pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays from November 27.

Clive War Memorial Pool will close for maintenance from January 7-27 next year.

However, those desperate for a swim will be able to use the Village and Frimley pools, as their hours will be extended.

Both the Village and Frimley pools will open on Mondays at 6am.

The Havelock North facility has five pools: a 33m pool, 2m deep pool, learners’ pool, toddlers’ pool and babies’ splash pool, while at Frimley there is a 50m pool, a learners’ pool, and a toddlers’ pool. The cost at these pools is $4 for an adult, $3 for children and over-65s, and $1 for under 5s.
