New Zealand’s southernmost craft brewery will be putting the bubbles into the Aucklandborn Radio Hauraki’s month-long birthday celebrations.
Invercargill Brewery has developed two Hauraki 5-0 beverages, a craft beer and an apple cider (to suit an audience that’s not exclusively craft). The faces of Hauraki Breakfast co-hosts
Matt Heath and Jeremy Wells are on the bottles, with all concerned hoping this won’t be detrimental to sales.
Heath and Wells headed to Invercargill on Wednesday to unveil their bottles and have a tasting that was almost ruined before they left Auckland. “I have thrown up twice so far,” said Heath. “Something I ate or drank. Had four buttery chards for lunch and a seafood chowder. First spew was at Auckland airport which was fine. Second was a bag filler on the ATR-72 out of chch. Heaps of red stuff and what looks like chickpeas. Which is weird because I haven’t had any of those. Looking forward to trying our beer. Should set me right.” The boys’ antics are nothing compared to some of the station’s shock-jocks’ past shenanigans. “The historic black and white stuff with that boat is the stuff of legend,” said Wells. “Jack the Sack had some good scripted pranks in the 80s.
