New Zealand men poised for top finish
The New Zealand men’s golf team were in a four-way tie for seventh after the third round of the Eisenhower Trophy at the world amateur teams championship in Mexico. Australia were racing away with the title, 16 shots ahead of Ireland, but the young Kiwi team were only five shots behind Ireland and eyeing a top-three finish overnight (NZT). Waikato’s Luke Toomey yesterday carded a 6-under par 66, the best round by a Kiwi at the tournament. Nick Voke was again solid, firing an even par round for the second counting score, and Ryan Chisnall hit a 76. The United States were third, one shot behind Ireland.
