Tamaki slams ‘demonic’ Harry Potter

Destiny Church leader Brian Tamaki has warned of the perils of Harry Potter — claiming that the hit children’s character lures young people into the “demonic world”. In a new book, Demons in my House, Tamaki says the boy wizard is a tool to recruit people for evil. “The Familiar Spirit i s the one to lead you into the occult and witchcraft; casting spells and curses. Movies and television have popularise­d ‘occult ’ programmes like True Blood, Cris Angel [ sic] andand many others; Harry Potter is a worldwide phenomenon used to ‘entice’ thousands of teenagers into the demonic world, as well asas many other things,” the book reads. The book is part of a collection of four titles, dubbed Revelatory Notes by Bishop Brian Tamaki, that are being sold by Destiny for $ 60. The books also makes controvers­ial claims about sexually transmitte­d diseases.

“Sexually transmitte­d diseases would not exist if people did not have sex before marriage and remained faithful to their own spouse,” he writes.

Tamaki carries on to question New Zealand’s obesity problem and why so many unemployed people are overweight, saying those who claim state benefits should be “skinny”.

“The unemployed seem to be the same; many seem to look like they eat plenty. The Bible says if you do not work, you do not eat. With that knowledge, there should be plenty of skinny people on the Dole! [sic]”

Last weekend Tamaki released another book, Sons of Thunder, in conjunctio­n with a conference for a church project called Man- Up — an initiative aimed
