STUNTWOMAN TAKES THE BISCUIT

-

In December stuntwoman and actress Zoe Bell signed on with Taika Waititi’s Curious Films as an actor, producer and director.

Since then the California-based ex-pat has spent the holidays at home in New Zealand, making the most of her summer with boyfriend, filmmaker Jacob Horn, cruising beach spots in Coromandel where Bell’s parents are now based. Horn headed back to LA in mid-January.

After spending time in Queenstown, Bell went straight to work on her first Curious Film project making her directing debut on an Arnott’s TV commercial. “To be back working where it all began ... to work on more and more scripts ... to demonstrate what I’m capable of ... I live for this,” Bell said Matt Noonan, executive producer and managing partner of Curious Films said: “She has probably spent more days on set at the pointy end of the camera than all the commercial directors in Australasia put together.

“Zoe and I have known each other since forever. We caught up on the Thor set when I was visiting Taika. When we started talking about developing projects together, I couldn’t resist asking if she was interested doing commercials.”

Noonan said he had been “blindsided by her ideas and creativity, and blown away by her enthusiasm”.

Time will tell whether Bell’s is the most action-packed bickie advert of all time.
