DCE blitz routs Dogs

-

A stunning NRL attacking blitzkrieg from halfback Daly Cherry-Evans has propelled Manly to a hammering of the Bulldogs at Brookvale Oval in Sydney last night.

The whipping boy for Sea Eagles critics after a difficult period for the NRL club, Cherry-Evans set up four tries in a first half that blew the Bulldogs out of the water.

He twice drifted across field before laying on perfect balls for straight runners, grubbering once for Dylan Walker and combining with Tom Trbojevic for one of the tries of the year.

After the fullback broke through the middle of the field just before halftime, he found Cherry-Evans, who kicked on the run for Trbojevic to make it 26-0 at the break.

Wade Graham toughed it out through pain and starred as Cronulla bounced back into the winner’s circle with a 20-6 defeat of Parramatta last night.

On a night when James Segeyaro made his return to the NRL with the Sharks, Graham shrugged off a firsthalf leg injury to lead his team to victory in front of 17,003 fans.

Both sides were sloppy but the Sharks made the better of their opportunities as the Eels dropped their second straight match.

The premiers spoiled the party in what was the Eels first home game at ANZ Stadium, while Parramatta Stadium is redeveloped.

It looked liked Graham’s night was over when he copped a blow to an Achilles tendon late in the first half but he played on after staying down for several minutes.
