My favourite travel destination I have been lucky enough to go to is Santorini in Greece. Two years ago we took our kids on a six-week holiday through Europe and ended up in the Greek Islands for a week. After seeing all the postcards of Santorini I had extremely high hopes, and it was everything I imagined it would be. Cliffs of white buildings, with blue roofs, overlooking incredible beaches. We had dinner down at a little restaurant at the bottom of a cliff, with the waves lapping up against the side of the wharf. It was magical. People warned us to never go to Santorini with kids, but they loved it. And the food was incredible, dolma with tzatziki and warm Greek breads, amazing. Loved this place.
MISS
Oh, definitely a trip my husband Nathan and I went on to Thailand, pre kids. We were on a three-week holiday of Thailand and Vietnam. Three days into the trip we hired a scooter to ride around the island. I was on the back and Nathan drove around the back of a car and skidded on some sand. We both fell off and the exhaust landed on my leg. It fried my skin to the bone. In a stroke of luck it happened right outside a hospital so I got all fixed up and medicated. However, we had to get the scooter back to the rental place that night so I had to drive home on the back of it with my leg in the air, in the dark, on dodgy roads. Then, for the next three weeks of our tropical holiday I wasn’t allowed to get it wet, so Nathan had to carry me around the pool with my leg up. I still have an awesome scar from it.
