Balloon grounded

-

Nasa’s seventh attempt to launch this year’s super-pressure balloon from Wanaka was cancelled yesterday to avoid it flying above the North Island. The balloon — which inflates to about the size of Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium — was grounded as forecast winds were predicted to blow it off course. Nasa has launched two balloons from Wanaka in the past two years.
