The 20-year-old German is seen by many as a future world No 1 and in May he won his first Masters title with a comprehensive win over Novak Djokovic in the Italian Open final. Zverev has yet to reach the second week of Wimbledon, but he demonstrated his grass-court pedigree with a win over Federer in Halle last year en route to the final.

Ranking: 12 The man so talented and with such a gorgeous single-handed backhand that he was nicknamed ‘Baby Fed’ as a youngster. But Dimitrov, 26, has not gone on to hit the heights expected of him and remains infuriatingly inconsistent. It all seemed to have clicked for the Bulgarian when he reached the Wimbledon semifinals three years ago, but he has been up and down since. As well as that Wimbledon semifinal run, Dimitrov is a former Queen’s winner, so there’s no doubt he can be a threat on grass when at the peak of his powers. Best: Semifinal (2014)

Ranking: 11 It was at Wimbledon last year that the hugely popular Argentine began to re-establish himself on the ATP Tour with a second round win over Wawrinka after a horrendous run of injuries. Multiple wrist surgeries have decimated the 2009 US Open champion’s backhand, but as last year showed, his low-bouncing slice can be very tricky to deal with on a grass court. Fitness concerns mean a tilt at the title is less likely, but the 28-yearold’s flamethrower of a forehand makes him a threat on any surface.

Another player hugely popular with the Wimbledon supporters, Tsonga gave Murray an almighty scare in their quarterfinal last year which the Brit eventually won in five sets. Aged 32 and having taken time off this year following the birth of his first child, Tsonga is perhaps not in optimum shape but he has twice reached the Wimbledon semifinals and has the grasscourt skills to go on another run this year.
