YEAR IN REVIEW

-

JANUARY

We kicked off the year with a preview of the best destinations throughout the world. “The Seychelles are known as the ‘islands of love’, and the world’s leading honeymoon destination. With swaying palms and soft, warm sand it’s no wonder some claim the Seychelles are the original site of the Garden of Eden.”

FEBRUARY

Warriors star Shaun Johnson visited Laos to meet longlost family members for a compelling documentary that went on to win at the recent television awards. “Anyone who knows us as a family knows that we’re probably the most unawkward people in the world. We can get along with anyone. The Lao side of the family was exactly the same . . . It wasn’t like turning up to a stranger’s home, it was like ‘we know you guys’.”

MARCH

The Bachelor NZ host Dominic Bowden gave his guide to falling in love in — and with — LA. “To me, to me romance is all about diversity and LA has it all . . . if you can’t find something in Los Angeles to set the romantic mood, you’re in trouble.”

JULY

But it doesn’t need to bethisway...”

AUGUST

Rachel Hunter shared her tips for looking great at the beach. “The key is to find a bikini that makes you feel great and then get out and have a swim, soak up the sun and feel the sand under your feet. Frankly, who cares what your hair looks like? Head there with a great bag, a fluffy towel, a book and an icecream and have fun.”

SEPTEMBER

We celebrated Early Bird Airfare season with a guide to long-haul travel, packed with helpful hints and tips. “Don’t leave [your seat allocation] to chance, because no one wants to end up in the dreaded middle seat for 12-plus hours. Many airlines will charge you to choose a seat these days — but it’s worth considering if you’re extra tall or a bit claustrophobic, so you can bags an exit row or extra leg room.”
