The 7pm TV wars resume proper tomorrow night, as Jeremy Wells joins Hilary Barry at Seven Sharp. Spy, who predicted his ascension, asked the experienced newsboy and Hauraki host seven sharp questions ahead of his debut.
1 What is your best date night spot?
Silly question for me . . . meatballs and salad with delicious cocktails at Bedford Soda and Liquor [Wells owns the joint].
2 Are you planning a 24-hour drinking marathon with Hilary this year?
I hear Hils loves a party so there's no reason why we can't do it. Maybe it needs to be upgraded to 48 hours this year?
3 Who wears nice cologne/ perfume better — Matt Heath or Hilary?
It's important to give your co-host some physical distance in the current climate so I haven't noticed either. I wear enough Tom Ford Black Orchid to drown out anyone else anyway.
4 What are you most afraid of on your first night on Seven Sharp?
I'm afraid of the dark especially when I'm in a park and there's no one else around. I don't want to see a ghost, it's a sight that I fear most. I'd rather have a piece of toast and watch the evening news [Ok Des’ree].
5 Which NZ comic could best parody you?
I've heard Michelle A'Court does a good Newsboy circa 1997.
6 Suggest baby names for PM Jacinda Ardern and Clarke Gayford’s new baby.
Colin or Bruce for a boy. Raylene or Gaylene for a girl.
7 Are you changing up motor vehicles to a high-performance sports car?
I've been thinking about splashing out and treating myself to a 1992 Mazda Bongo.
