NAKED MAGIC
The comedic and magical duo Christopher Wayne & Mike Tyler, aka the Naked Magicians, are known to have the world’s funniest and naughtiest magic show. They have performed on stages all over the world and have been seen by 50 million people on TV.
They are heading Downunder in May for the NZ Comedy Festival, and they tell Spy New Zealand ladies are their favourite audience.
The boys perform magic tricks with rabbits, cards, cups, balls, doves and even the odd sex toy, while fully nude.
“Every trick in our show actually has amazing magic in it, but when we made the show we wanted to make sure that each trick was as funny and naughty as it was magical. We have two sex toys in the show, one of them is named Mike and the other is me,” Wayne tells Spy. “I was actually a magician on a kids’ TV show (which I am 100 per cent not allowed back on), and Mike was a highly sought-after corporate entertainer. We were best friends who did magic for a living and wanted to make something truly unique. That’s when we had the idea to take magic to a place it had never been to before . . . and that place was the naughty part that we all have inside of us.
“After performing this show in hundreds of cities around the world — I can honestly say that Kiwi girls are THE most fun. They are the perfect combination of naughty and nice, which for a Naked Magician, is the ultimate combination. I’m
single, and I would be happy to be swept up by a Kiwi girl.” The lads do get propositioned after shows, much like male strippers, but to stay in shape, they don’t drink, are up early at the gym and are generally focused on delivering a great show. Last month they did some magic with the cast of The Walking Dead and say comedian Ben Stiller was probably their coolest celebrity encounter.
Oh, and in case you were wondering whether they bump into the guys from Puppetry of the Penis, they do and even though the puppeteers are much older, they have traded war stories with them on the international circuit. “Our audience is mostly women — and we love it. But we are honestly proud that this show is enjoyed just as much by men, gay or straight, as by our female fans. That’s something really important to us. If you like magic, comedy, dirty humour, naked men, or all of the above — come and see our show. We have a new trick for you Kiwis that will leave you in pure hysteria. It’s a literal and metaphorical climax,” says Wayne.
