3 FOR THE KIDS...

This Western Australian city has wildlife and adventures galore.

-

1 ROTTNEST ISLAND

Just 90-minutes by boat from Perth’s Barrack St Jetty, Rottnest is a fun family-friendly day out. The kids will love the friendly quokkas roaming the island — the little marsupials are used to humans so will get really close. Manmade family attractions include the Just 4 Fun inflatable water park, fantastic beaches and bike, boat and bus tours. For something a little different, head out on the Sub Sea Explorer — a custom-built semi-submersible vessel with huge underwater windows perfect for viewing coral, marine life and shipwrecks. rottnestisland.com

2 AQWA

To check out more of the region’s incredible marine life, take the family to the Aquarium of Western Australia (AQWA). Here, you’ll find one of the world’s largest living coral reef exhibits, as well as sharks, stingrays and sea turtles, which can be viewed on a 98m-long moving walkway that winds through the underwater tunnel. There are regular talks, feeding times and kids activities to make for a truly interactive experience. aqwa.com.au

3 ADVENTURE WORLD

A combined theme-, wildlife- and waterpark, Adventure World has something for kids of all ages, with gentle rides for the small ones, to heart-stopping roller coasters for the older daredevils. The wildlife park focuses on native species, with a koala kingdom and an Aussie Wildlife Experience area. Watery attractions include the Hawaiian-themed Kahuna Falls and the aptly named Tunnel of Terror. Open from September to April, this is one to plan ahead for. adventureworld.net.au
