We all know how important it is to have breakfast. You’ve heard how it’s the most important meal of the day; it sets you up well to achieve all you need to do each day. Many store-bought cereals are full of sugar; I’ve cut the sugar in this granola, using honey as a sweetener and adding hemp seeds. Hemp seeds are a superfood and high source of magnesium. The compote doesn’t need added sugar as the apples give the sweetness and the goji berries are full of vitamins and minerals. This breakfast combo is sure to make you have a happy day.

Hemp Seed Granola Makes: 3 cups Prep time: 10 minutes

1 cup jumbo oats

⅓ cup hemp seeds

⅓ up pecans, roughly chopped

⅓ cup hazelnuts, roughly chopped

⅓ cup almonds, roughly chopped

⅓ cup pumpkin seeds

⅓ cup cashews, roughly chopped

½ cup runny honey

1 Preheat oven to 150C and line a baking tray with baking paper.

2 Mix together all the ingredients and spread over the baking tray.

3 Place in the oven, stirring the mixture every 10 minutes.

4 Toast till the granola is golden. This should take about 30 minutes.

5 Cool the granola and transfer to a glass jar to store.

6 Serve with the apple, goji and cinnamon compote and unsweetened coconut yoghurt.
