Refugee advocates say Christchurch offers a place of common ground for refugees. The city has been reinstated as a refugee settlement location after its quota was suspended following the 2010 earthquake. Around 20 Afghan and Eritrean refugees are expected to be settled in March, with room for 40 more at a later date.
